The ZR Carbon Fiber is a hand crafted carbon fiber frame made just for you to your specifications. The triangular frame is gone, to give way to a more aerodynamic sculpted frame. The composite materials allows us to do things that would be impossible in metal. The brake and shifter cables are all routed internally to keep the exterior surface smooth. You can feel the areodymanic advantage of this bike at high speeds. The ZR will help you lower your times in any event. Smooth riding and laterally stiff for excellent power translation is achieved both through the use of composites and the geometry of the frame.
CAS did "compact geometry" years ago and took it to a whole new level, we eliminated all the tubes . There are some nice features incorporated into the frame geomety which can not be achieved with conventional triangluar frames. There is no chain stay thus eliminating the possiblity of chain induced frame damage. There's a clear path for the chain to bounce around all it wants. We don't even specify a stand over height, because we elimited the top tube. We reinvented the bicycle.
Carbon Fiber:
Composite materials are a mixture of high strength fibers and a matrix (or glue) which binds the fibers together. We hand lay-up a 33 million modulus carbon fiber in cloth and uni-directional tape form. The matrix is an ambient curing high strength aircraft grade epoxy. The carbon fiber and the epoxy matrix has the best strength to weight ratio of any material in the world.
Aerodynamic:
Its pretty simple, less tubes, less wind resistance, less drag, less effort. In cycling aerodynamics are very important due to the limited power source available. The faster you go the more energy you have to extend to maintain that speed. The aerodynamic advantages of the ZR are on par with the super bikes of the 1996 Olympics.
Custom Frame:
Our unique manufacturing method allows us to tailor the frame geometry to fit your specifications. Our process is very labor intensive, but we believe the extra effort is worth it to get a custom fitting bicycle. All the other carbon fiber bikes are mass produced in a mold or glued together tubes in molded carbon fiber "lugs" in three sizes, small, medium and large. A good fitting bicycle is paramont. That's why we go the extra effort to produce a frame for each customer. Handcrafted one at a time, just for you.
